Laser Refractive Surgery
Laser refractive surgery or laser eye surgery is a procedure that corrects your vision in order to reduce your dependence on glasses or contact lenses. There are various techniques for correcting or adjusting your eye's focusing ability by reshaping the cornea, the clear, round dome at the front of your eye. Laser surgery can correct myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.
Laser Surgery Options
At Eye Surgeons of CNY we offer two different types of laser vision surgery. The first is IntraLase (LASIK). IntraLase is a blade-free laser technology for performing the initial step of the LASIK procedure: creating the corneal flap. (Then an excimer laser is used to reshape the cornea to improve your vision.)The second option is PRK or photorefractive keratectomy. PRK uses an excimer laser to correct vision and reshape the cornea without creating a flap in the cornea. You can learn more about laser surgery here.
